Noh is a quintessential performing art of Japan, having been performed and passed down for nearly 700 years since the 14th century, known as the Muromachi period. Perfected by the father-son duo, Kan'ami and Zeami, Noh progressively became a cherished cultural treasure among many warlords. However, in the latter half of the 17th century, Noh experienced a decline due to the devastation of wars. Yet, thanks to the spirited efforts of performers and supporters, Noh has since regained its prestige. Today, it is not only celebrated throughout Japan but also highly esteemed internationally. One reason Noh has been perpetuated as a unique performing art to this day is its reflection of various aspects of Japanese culture and the inherent nature of humanity. Throughout different eras, Noh has been loved and preserved by many people.
